The LMIC Mission & Purpose




The Livestock and Meat Industry Council, Inc (LMIC), a Kansas corporation, through primary cooperation with Kansas State University (KSU), is dedicated to facilitating interdisciplinary education and research that improves the global competitiveness and efficiency of animal and food production.

• Promote the development and growth of all segments of the livestock and meat industry.

• Facilitate interdisciplinary research that identifies and addresses issues/
opportunities facing animal agriculture and the efficient production of food.

• Help develop and maintain positive industry relationships with the KSU Animal Sciences and Industry department.

• Facilitate contributions to include money, land, livestock, equipment and other bequests in support of approved priorities of the LMIC Board of Directors.

• Provide recommendations for the allocation of LMIC funds in cooperation with the KSU College of Agriculture and the KSU Foundation.

Family & Friends Reunion

Annually in October, LMIC along with the K-State Animal Sciences and Industry Department hosts the KSU ASI Family & Friends Reunion.

Stockmen’s Dinner

Hosted the Thursday night before Cattlemen’s Day. A highlight of the evening is honoring the Stockman of the Year.

LMIC supports the ASI 661D class that assists with planning, promoting and hosting the annual Family & Friends Reunion as well as produces an annual publication highlighting the event and other ASI activities. Click on the cover to view the publication.
